This project was to build a new WTP for the City of Blaine. The water was treated with two reaction vessels and twin pressure filters provided by Filtronics. A concrete backwash tank was constructed under the plant. A 60' air stripping tower was installed to remove dangerous levels of groundwater contaminates. Part of the electrical work included a 400 Kw backup generator.

The existing water treatment plant was outdated and no longer functioning properly. A new WTP was constructed with three gravity filters, an aerator, backwash tank and clear well. An additional well was added to the system to provide water to the plants. The project included almost a mile of new pipeline to improve the water system on the south side of town. Upgraded electrical and SCADA systems where also a large part of the project. Upon completion of the new WTP, the old building was removed and the lot was cleared for future use.

The Dassel water treatment facility had twin gravity filters in need of repair. Each filter was completely gutted, blasted and painted one at a time to keep the facility producing water. A new concrete underdrain system was installed along with new internal piping and media. The electrical and controls were updated and relocated to a new addition. A natural gas generator was also installed at the site. Three of the four high service pumps were replaced. Updated HVAC and chemical feed systems were also part of the improvements.

The city of Minneapolis needed access to their 54" steel forcemain and 20" cast iron drain line within their water system between water plants for maintenance purposes. The forcemain and drain line were supported from above with a beam and chain system while the concrete vaults were constructed around the existing piping. The project was completed utilizing a double slide rail bore pit system. 

St. Louis Park WTP #4 Improvements

The city of St. Louis Park needed WTP 4 modified to add air stripping to remove chemical contaminates in the water. This required construction of a new concrete contact tank in the basement of the facility. A steel structure was built above that to support two air stripping units. The process piping was modified to accommodate the additional flow. A high service pump was installed to pump water from the contact tank out into the distribution system.  Chemical feed systems were all replaced and installed in the new individual rooms. To complete the process upgrades the existing filter media was removed and replaced. Other major work included a new room to house a new natural gas generator with a remotely mounded radiator, as well as electrical, plumbing and HVAC upgrades.

Construction of the new WTP for the city of Shoreview consisted of two concrete backwash tanks, a backwash  holding reservoir and six concrete gravity filter cells. The project included twin aerators for the removal of additional water impurities, one for each bank of filters. A large diesel generator was installed to handle loads at the new WTP along with the adjacent booster station. The brick building is both functional and aesthetically pleasing along with the LED lights on the interior that change with the seasons.

The project began with demolition of all three existing wellhouses and rehabilitation of wells 1, 2, and 9 using an airlifting development process. Wellhouse #1 was changed to a submersible well with a precast control building and then connected to wellhouse #2 via direct boring operations from another contract. Wellhouse #2 was new construction with controls, process piping for wells #1 and #2, and chemical feed equipment including liquid chlorine, fluoride, and permanganate systems to treat the finished water supply. Wellhouse #9 was also a new building with controls and process piping.  Wellhouse #9 was connected to Blaine Water Treatment Plant #2 with a half mile of 8" directional bored watermain. Several modifications were completed inside of WTP #2 to connect well #9 to the WTP system. Other major work on the project included installing new valves at the Blaine Booster 16 site, and new plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical at all wellhouse locations.

Well 12 was a fast-tracked project due to other wells within the City that had to shut down from contamination. The project consisted of a new well, wellhouse, natural gas generator, chem feed and electrical equipment. The wellhouse was designed to look more like a house than your typical wellhouse with hardy siding, windows and extensive landscaping as it was located next to a City park and new housing developments.

Due to significant growth the city needed additional water supply to keep up with  demand. The project was to install an 800 gpm vertical turbine pump, but was increased to 1200 gpm after the test pumping showed higher production that anticipated. A new masonry building was constructed around the well which included an office and storage areas. A canopy was build on one end with drinking fountains for use with the adjacent park and walking path. Project included three chemical feed systems and a natural gas backup generator.

A new masonry wellhouse was constructed with fiber cement siding to blend into the neighborhood. A vertical turbine pump was installed inside the building as well as electrical and chemical feed systems. Outside the wellhouse a picnic shelter was constructed for use with the nearby park and athletic fields.

A new masonry building was constructed to house a turbine pump and process piping. The building also included a storage garage and public bathrooms for use with the adjacent park. The watermain was directionally drilled under the park to tie the new supply into the existing water plant.

Four City of St. Paul wells were modified with new pump heads and connections into the City's 90" steel and concrete raw water conduits. The original concrete piping was installed in 1926. We modified connections to each well so the water from the well could be diverted into either conduit. Each site was also given new motor control.

The WWTF was operating near capacity which required an expansion. A new concrete oxidation ditch  was constructed. The ditch included installation of oxidation rotors as well as new chemical feed lines that were tied into the existing feed system. An older generator was removed and electrical upgrades were completed to add the new equipment and tie everything into a single backup power supply on site. A rotary drum screen was also replaced in the headworks building.

The project's main objective was to create a new pond dewatering system to handle their sludge. A new pond was drug, liner installed and sand placed on top for drainage. The new dewatering system consists of four dewatering bags. These bags are to hold the sludge while letting the water drain back out. The pond is large enough for expansion for up to as many as 24 bags. An upgraded control system, site piping, a new polymer system and work in the pretreatment building were also a part of this project.

Lift station Number 8 was a replacement of the existing pumps and cover with the addition of a third pump, new vault, bypass manhole and new controls. This station handles the flow from the AVEDA shampoo complex and other surrounding businesses. Lift Stations number 12 & 13 received new natural gas generators and new controls. 

Monticello Sludge Dewatering Facility

This project was to add a screw press to the current treatment processes at the facility. A new multi story masonry building with poured concrete decks was constructed over an existing concrete tank to create the new treatment building. The existing tank served as the constructed over an existing concrete tank to create the new treatment building. The existing tank served as the basement where the sludge pumps and associated piping were installed. The main level included a polymer feed system, electrical gear, and a dumpster bay with guide rails and a winch system. The upper level featured a Huber screw press with room to add a second one in the future. There is also an overhead bridge crane for maintenance of the press.
